Youve probably heard of the four Cs but dont know what all the Cs stand for or what they mean exactly. The four Cs are used to determine the quality of a diamond; they stand for carat, clarity, color and cut.

Lets start with a diamonds carat. Carats are simply the unit that a diamonds weight is measured in. Therefore the higher the carat the more valuable a diamond becomes. A diamonds color also influences its value and price. Technically a perfect diamond is colorless; however it is rare to find a perfectly transparent diamond. White diamonds are graded from D to Z. Perhaps the most important C of all is cut. A good cut can disguise a diamonds flaws and enhance its attributes. A diamond is cut into various shapes according to what is popular at the time and the consumers preference.
