Mother's Day Gifts

Possibly the only carbon so treasured by people all over the world, there is nothing quite like a diamond to add sparkle to a girls life. So youve already decided that youre going with a diamond bracelet, now how do you choose the best diamond bracelet? Youve probably heard of the four Cs and how they are important when choosing a diamond. There are a few other things that you should consider when buying a diamond bracelet.

The Four Cs

Youve probably heard of the four Cs but dont know what all the Cs stand for or what they mean exactly. The four Cs are used to determine the quality of a diamond; they stand for carat, clarity, color and cut.

Lets start with a diamonds carat. Carats are simply the unit that a diamonds weight is measured in. Therefore the higher the carat the more valuable a diamond becomes. In the case of a diamond bracelet you will hear the phrase total carat weight or TCW which refers to the whole piece of jewellery and not the individual diamonds.

Next we have a diamonds clarity. As the word suggests, clarity is about the number of internal defects a diamond has. These imperfections range from those that can be seen with the naked eye to those that can only be seen by a trained eye with a jewellers eyepiece.

A diamonds color also influences its value and price. Technically a perfect diamond is colorless; however it is rare to find a perfectly transparent diamond. White diamonds are graded from D to Z. D being the most desirable and valuable class. However diamonds with colours such as a bright yellow, blue or pink are also very valuable as they are rare.

Perhaps the most important C of all is cut. A good cut can disguise a diamonds flaws and enhance its attributes. A diamond is cut into various shapes according to what is popular at the time and the consumers preference.

A Matter of Personal Preference

Now that you have a rough idea of what to look out for when picking a piece, it all comes down to personal preference. Do you want something studded with diamonds or a simple diamond bracelet with only a few stones for a more understated look? The choice is really up to you.

Another thing to take into consideration when choosing a diamond bracelet is lifestyle. Are you going to be wearing the piece on a daily basis or are you reserving your diamond bracelet to add a little more pizzazz to a specific outfit. For example if youd like to wear your bracelet everyday, a piece dripping with diamonds is probably not what youre looking for.

The Fifth C

Theres one last C you need to keep in mind while looking for a diamond. This is,
of course, cost. As discussed earlier, the four Cs greatly influence the value of a diamond
therefore influencing its price. Now that you have an idea of what makes a diamond
valuable, youll be able to choose whats right for your tastes.
